Women Riders World Relay — The Victoria leg in pictures
A few notes from the road follow. Pics by Melissa Butters
7am: Rolled up to join the group at Lilydale for an epic breakfast catered by the team at Tasty Az. Red tape and red armbands were being strapped on in memory of Christine "Red" Murray who sadly passed away on 19 June 2019.
Met the incredible Colette Tindall Edeling, determined to complete the entire journey starting her engine in Scotland and riding through all countries so far. Her bike’s hard to miss, adorned with WRWR flags from around the world and a windswept lion toy, handed to Colette by a close friend who's young baby tragically passed away at 6 months of age. She was asked to "show him around the world."
Cold fog on the leg from Lilydale to Shepparton and rumours of .5 degrees celsius. The much welcomed sun broke through around midday and we enjoyed a sunny lunch in the Shepparton Showgrounds, the wonderful ladies of the Goulburn Valley CWA made sandwiches, soup and cakes. The group rode on towards Wagga Wagga NSW, the final destination of WRWR day 185 leg.
Shout out to Christi Hartwig, Yvonne Barker and Vicki Cronin for leading the Victoria, Australia leg of WRWR, inaugural global event and thanks to Hayley Bell, Founder UK and to everyone who has worked behind the scenes to create this event and of course to all the adventurous, courageous, inspiring, real and united women!
